HR Manager

Job Description

About the Role
Join ONSIDE and discover the role of HR Manager in the charity sector. This is a hands‑on, operational HR role, crucial to supporting the day‑to‑day running of our organisation and ensuring our people receive consistent, fair and responsive HR support.

The HR Manager will lead and deliver the operational HR service, ensuring policies, processes and systems are applied effectively across the organisation. You will provide practical, expert support to managers and teams, enabling them to deliver excellent services across Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

This role manages a small HR team and works closely with managers to support recruitment, employee relations, wellbeing, compliance and people processes across the full employment lifecycle.

Alongside the strong operational focus, this role also offers a genuine opportunity to develop broader strategic HR experience over time, working closely with the Director of People and Senior Leadership Team. For the right candidate, there is clear potential to grow the role and progress into a more strategic Head of HR position as the organisation continues to develop.

Who are we looking for?
We are seeking an experienced operational HR professional who thrives in a busy, people‑focused environment. You will have strong experience across the full employment lifecycle and be confident providing hands‑on advice to managers on employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, absence and capability.

You will be highly organised, pragmatic and approachable, with a strong understanding of employment law and best practice. Your ability to manage competing priorities, maintain accurate records and apply HR policies consistently will be key to your success.

You will enjoy supporting managers and staff, solving problems and ensuring HR systems, processes and data are accurate, compliant and effective — while also having the ambition and curiosity to develop your strategic HR capability over time.

What you'll earn (you won't find "competitive salary” written instead of a figure on our watch!)

Salary: £38,000 – £42,000 FTE per annum (pro rata)
