Role Purpose

The HR Manager will provide hands-on, operational HR support to warehousing and logistics operations, ensuring compliance with employment legislation, supporting managers with people matters, and helping to drive engagement, performance, and retention in a fast-paced environment.

This role requires a pragmatic, visible HR professional who understands frontline operations, shift-based workforces, and the commercial pressures of Warehousing.

Key Responsibilities

Employee Relations & Case Management

• Advise and support line managers on employee relations issues including absence management, disciplinaries, grievances, performance management, and capability processes
• Lead and manage ER cases end-to-end, ensuring consistency, fairness, and legal compliance
• Support investigations, hearings, and appeals, producing clear documentation and outcomes
• Act as a first point of contact for HR queries from employees and managers

Warehousing & Operational Support

• Build strong working relationships with warehouse managers, supervisors, and shift leaders
• Provide on-the-ground HR support aligned to operational demands (shift-based environments)
• Support peak planning, onboarding, and workforce flexibility initiatives
• Advise on labour planning impacts such as overtime, agency usage, and shift changes

Policy, Compliance & Best Practice

• Ensure company policies are applied consistently across sites and shifts
• Support compliance with UK employment law, ACAS guidelines, and internal procedures
• Maintain accurate employee records and ensure data integrity
• Assist with audits, inspections, and compliance reporting where required

Absence, Attendance & Wellbeing

• Monitor absence trends and support managers with return-to-work processes
• Advise on long-term sickness cases, OH referrals, and reasonable adjustments
• Promote wellbeing initiatives aligned to a physical, operational workforce

Recruitment & Onboarding

• Support operational recruitment campaigns (permanent, temporary, and agency labour)
• Assist with interviews, onboarding, inductions, and probation reviews
• Liaise with agencies to ensure compliance, cost control, and performance standards

Engagement & Culture

• Support employee engagement initiatives and communication forums
• Assist with employee representative engagement where applicable
• Provide HR input to toolbox talks, briefings, and site communications

HR Projects & Continuous Improvement

• Contribute to HR projects such as policy updates, engagement surveys, or system improvements
• Use people data to identify trends and make practical recommendations
• Support change management initiatives including restructures or TUPE where required

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Essential

• Proven HR Manager experience, ideally within warehousing, logistics, manufacturing, or similar operational environments
• Strong knowledge of UK employment law and employee relations
• Confident advising managers and challenging constructively where needed
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Desirable

• CIPD Level 3 or Level 5 qualified (or working towards)
• Exposure to change management or TUPE processes

Working Environment

• Warehouse office based role.
• May require flexibility to support shift patterns, including early starts or occasional evenings

Pay: £37,00,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
