Are you an experienced ER professional who enjoys working strategically and operationally within HR?
About us
National Star is a special education needs organisation providing the opportunity for young people with disabilities to realise their potential as equal and active citizens in control of their lives. Supporting more than 1,360 employees, our HR Delivery Team plays a key role in the smooth running of our charity, working collaboratively across the whole organisation to provide great customer service and wellbeing advice alongside our employment law knowledge and strategic work.
About the role
We are looking for an experienced Employee Relations Advisor to expand our team. You will work closely with the Employee Relations Lead to manage a varied caseload, support managers, and ensure a fair and consistent approach to employee relations across the organisation.
You will manage a range of employee relations cases including disciplinary, grievance, absence, and performance matters. The role involves providing expert advice to managers, conducting investigations, and supporting the resolution of workplace issues in line with employment law and organisational policies.
You’ll also support manager development by providing coaching and guidance, helping to build confidence and capability in handling ER matters. In addition, you will identify trends, contribute to continuous improvement, and promote a positive, inclusive working culture.
About you
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys problem-solving, managing complex cases, and influencing positive workplace outcomes.
You will have previous experience handling employee relations cases, either in a specialist ER role or within a generalist HR position. You’ll have a sound understanding of UK employment law and be confident advising managers at all levels.
You’ll be organised, resilient, and able to manage a busy and varied workload. Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills are essential, along with the ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism.
A CIPD Level 5 qualification (or equivalent experience) is desirable.
