HR Advisor (part time)

Job Description

HR Advisor

Part-Time | 15 hours per week | Fully Remote | Chichester-based | 3 month FTC

Clear People is a specialist HR consultancy supporting small and growing businesses across Chichester, West Sussex, and the wider South East. We're a joint venture between two CIPD-qualified HR professionals, built on the belief that small business owners deserve the same quality of HR expertise as large corporates β€” delivered in a way that's practical, straight-talking, and genuinely useful.

Our work focuses heavily on helping businesses navigate the Employment Rights Act and providing day-to-day HR support that takes the weight off business owners' shoulders. We don't do waffle. We don't do box-ticking. We do real HR, for real businesses.

The Role

We're looking for an experienced HR Advisor to join the Clear People team on a part-time basis on an initial fixed term contract of 3 months. This is a client-facing role β€” you'll be the person our clients turn to when they need practical, reliable HR guidance. The people you'll be supporting are mostly small business owners and MDs with little or no in-house HR resource, so the ability to give clear, confident, commercially-grounded advice quickly is essential.

You'll work remotely most of the time, with regular team meet-ups in Chichester and occasional client visits in the local area. No two days will look the same β€” this role covers the full spectrum of HR advisory work.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Providing day-to-day HR advice to a portfolio of small business clients across a broad range of employment matters
  • Supporting clients through employee relations issues β€” disciplinaries, grievances, performance management, absence, and more
  • Drafting and reviewing employment documentation including contracts, handbooks, and policies
  • Supporting clients with end-to-end recruitment, including drafting job descriptions, person specifications, job adverts, and advising on selection and interview processes
  • Guiding business owners through people challenges with practical, jargon-free advice
  • Supporting clients with Employment Rights Act compliance and keeping them updated as legislation evolves
  • Building trusted relationships with clients and becoming a genuine extension of their team
  • Attending team meetings in Chichester and occasional client visits locally
  • Working collaboratively with the wider Clear People team on projects and consultancy work

What We're Looking For

  • Solid generalist HR advisory experience β€” you're comfortable across the full spectrum, not just one specialism
  • Demonstrable SME experience β€” you understand the pressures, pace, and priorities of small business owners
  • CIPD qualification (Level 5 minimum; Level 7 preferred)
  • The ability to give clear, confident advice quickly β€” clients need answers, not lengthy disclaimers
  • Excellent written communication skills β€” you can draft a letter or policy that's legally sound and readable
  • A proactive, self-starting working style β€” you can manage your own caseload without hand-holding
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality β€” our standards are high and we need yours to match
  • Warmth and approachability β€” clients need to trust you, so being easy to talk to matters as much as knowing your stuff
  • Based within a reasonable commute of Chichester for team meet-ups and local client visits
  • Up to date with current employment legislation including the Employment Rights Act

Nice to Have

  • Experience working within an HR consultancy or agency environment
  • Knowledge of TUPE, redundancy, or restructuring processes
  • Confidence in handling difficult conversations β€” both advising clients and occasionally facilitating
  • Experience supporting clients remotely with minimal face-to-face time
