Job Description

We are seeking a proactive, hands-on HR Generalist/Advisor to join us, reporting directly to the Head of People. This is a broad and varied operational role covering the full employee lifecycle where you’ll play a key part in delivering a practical and supportive HR service across a fast-paced, multi-site environment.

Working primarily from home, you will regularly visit our four depots (Park Royal NW10, Canning Town E16, Croydon CR0 and Rochester ME2) to provide on-site support, build strong relationships with managers, and establish yourself as a visible and trusted advisor. You’ll ensure consistent, pragmatic HR guidance across all locations.

You will proactively support line managers on employee relations, performance, and absence management, while also contributing to recruitment activity to help attract and select the best talent. This role offers a high degree of autonomy and is key to strengthening HR support across the business as it continues to grow.

Key responsibilities will include;

  • Provide day-to-day HR support and advice to managers and employees
  • Be the first point of contact for HR queries and employee relations matters, offering practical, solutions-focused guidance
  • Assist managers with recruitment campaigns, interviews, and selection processes
  • Develop and enhance induction programmes
  • Advise on and support performance management, employee relations, and absence management cases
  • Analyse and present people data (e.g. time-to-hire, retention, absence trends, case volumes, KPIs) to identify risks, inform decision-making, and drive continuous improvement
  • Maintain accurate HR records and oversee HR and payroll administration
  • Ensure consistent application of HR policies and procedures
  • Keep up to date with UK employment legislation and best practice

What we’re looking for

  • Proven experience in a generalist HR role, supporting managers across a range of HR activities
  • Comfortable operating in a hands-on, operational HR environment
  • Strong working knowledge of UK employment legislation and HR best practice
  • Positive, proactive, and solutions-focused approach
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build credibility and strong working relationships at all levels
  • Highly organised, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Able to work independently and use initiative
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys variety
  • Willingness to travel regularly to depot locations

What you'll earn (you won't find "competitive salary” written instead of a figure on our watch!)

£36,000 - £38,000 per annum depending on experience

What you'll receive in return (Benefits)

  • Enhanced contributory Workplace Pension.
  • Health Cash Plan with virtual GP service.
  • 25 days’ holiday (plus bank holidays).
  • Free tool hire for personal use and staff discount on purchases.
  • Fresh fruit, snacks, and drinks in our depots.
