About the Role
IQGeo is seeking an HR Officer to deliver high-quality HR support across a growing team of software engineers and business professionals. This fixed-term maternity cover role plays a key part in supporting the full employee lifecycle, with a strong focus on Learning & Development, employee experience, and day-to-day HR advisory support.
This is a hands-on HR generalist role requiring sound judgement, strong stakeholder management, and the ability to apply HR knowledge to practical situations. You will work closely with managers to resolve people matters, strengthen capability, and ensure consistent, compliant HR operations.
In addition to core HR responsibilities, this role will actively support and help coordinate Learning & Development initiatives across the business — helping to drive engagement, manager capability, and career development.
This is a hybrid role based out of our Cambridge office, offering a blend of office presence (2–3 days per week) and remote work.

What You’ll Do
HR Operations & Employee Lifecycle
- Manage changes to employment status, benefits, and employee data, ensuring accuracy across HR and payroll systems
- Maintain and update local HR policies, procedures, and documentation to ensure regulatory compliance
- Oversee onboarding and offboarding processes for your location, ensuring a consistent and professional employee experience
- Coordinate local payroll inputs and ensure accurate and timely processing in partnership with Finance and external providers
- Support continuous improvement of people processes and employee experience initiatives
Employee Relations & Advisory Support
- Act as a first point of contact for employees and managers on HR queries, providing guidance consistent with policy, employment law, and good people practice
- Support employee relations matters (e.g., absence management, performance discussions, informal concerns) and escalate more complex cases appropriately
- Coach managers on people processes and help build confidence in handling day-to-day people matters
- Identify recurring themes or risks and provide insights to the HR Manager
Learning & Development & Organisational Capability
- Coordinate and support the delivery of learning programmes, workshops, and development initiatives
- Support administration, reporting, and tracking of completion and engagement metrics
- Assist in maintaining development frameworks, career pathways, and performance development processes
- Partner with managers to identify learning needs and help promote a culture of continuous development
- Support onboarding programme design and delivery to ensure effective integration of new hires
- Contribute to the creation or improvement of internal learning materials, resources, and guidance
Compliance, Data & Reporting
- Monitor local legislative and regulatory changes relevant to HR and advise on required updates
- Prepare HR reports and workforce metrics to support decision-making and global HR initiatives
- Support internal and external audits related to HR, payroll, and compliance
- Ensure HR documentation, data, and processes meet GDPR (or equivalent) and record-keeping standards
Collaboration & Cross-Functional Partnership
- Build effective working relationships with managers and colleagues across Finance, IT, Sales, Customer Service, Engineering, and other teams
- Support global HR projects, harmonisation initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts
Recruitment Support (Nice-to-Have)
- Provide administrative and coordination support for recruitment activity as required
- Assist hiring managers with interview scheduling, candidate communication, and onboarding logistics
- Support a positive and professional candidate experience
Other Responsibilities
- Perform additional HR duties as required to support business needs.
What You’ll Bring
Essential Skills
- 3–5 years of experience in an HR generalist, HR operations, or HR advisory role
- Solid working knowledge of HR processes, payroll coordination, benefits administration, and local employment law fundamentals
- Experience supporting or coordinating Learning & Development activities
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust and influence
- Proactive, solutions-focused mindset
- High attention to detail and professionalism when handling confidential information
- Confident using HR systems, reporting tools, and MS Office applications
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver to deadlines
Desirable Skills
- Exposure to structured L&D frameworks, LMS administration, or learning analytics
- Experience supporting performance management or career development frameworks
- Experience providing recruitment coordination or hiring manager support
- Familiarity with technical/SaaS industry environments
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
- CIPD Associate Level qualification (or working toward it) desirable but not required

£36,000 - £42,500 (Depending on Experience)
