Job Description

Job Purpose

To provide proactive, practical and legally compliant HR advice and support to Care Home Managers and senior leaders. The role supports high-quality care delivery through effective people management, compliance with employment law and Care Quality Commission (CQC) requirements.

Key Responsibilities – HR Advisory & Employee Relations

- Provide day-to-day HR advice to Care Home Managers on disciplinary, grievance, capability and performance issues
- Support absence management, including long-term sickness and return-to-work processes
- Guide managers through probation reviews, contract management and employee lifecycle issues
- Coach managers to build confidence and capability in people management

Compliance & Social Care Regulation

- Ensure HR practices comply with employment law and CQC requirements
- Support homes during CQC inspections ensuring HR files are audit-ready
- Advise on safeguarding concerns involving staff and liaise with safeguarding teams

Recruitment & Safer Recruitment

- Support recruitment and selection process
- Ensure safer recruitment compliance including DBS, Right to Work and references
- Advise on fair selection and interview practices

Workforce Management & Change

- Support organisational change including TUPE, restructures and consultations
- Advise on rotas, Working Time Regulations and flexible working requests

Policy & Process

- Support consistent application of HR policies across care homes
- Contribute to policy development and updates
- Promote equality, diversity and inclusion

Data & Reporting

- Maintain accurate HR records and employee files
- Produce HR metrics on absence, turnover and employee relations cases
- Support audits and inspections with accurate documentation

What you'll earn (you won't find "competitive salary” written instead of a figure on our watch!)

Salary £35k- £38k Pro Rata for 20 hours per week

Flexible working week Monday to Friday 

Fixed term contract for 12 months- could lead to permanent
