Arc is seeking a People Operations Officer to join the People & Culture team to oversee people operations and compliance across a global workforce, ensuring smooth and efficient HR processes. You'll be in a small team with plenty of opportunity for generalist work and growing your knowledge and skills in the HR space in a supportive, flexible environment. We are seeking a detail-oriented and employee-centric individual. In this role, you will be responsible for streamlining the day-to-day HR processes, managing employee lifecycle administration, optimizing our HR tech stack, and ensuring a seamless, high-touch experience for all team members. You will serve as a primary contact for employee inquiries and help build scalable operations that support organisational growth. You will have a curiosity about how employment works in locations around the world – Arc currently employs people indirectly via an EOR in 11 countries.

What you will be doing:
Employee Lifecycle & Recruitment Administration
- Support End-to-End Recruitment: Partner with hiring managers and recruiters to post job requisitions, coordinate interview schedules, manage candidate communications, and guide candidates smoothly through the selection pipeline.
- Onboarding & Offboarding: Manage end-to-end onboarding and offboarding tasks, including documentation, background checks, system access, and equipment coordination.
- HRIS & Data Maintenance: Maintain accurate employee and candidate records in the HRIS/ATS, ensuring data privacy standards and seamless transitions from applicant to hired employee.
- First Point of Contact: Serve as the primary contact for employee and candidate inquiries regarding benefits, leave policies, payroll updates, and interview workflows.
HR Technology & Process Optimization
- Administer and maintain HR software (e.g., HRIS, ATS, performance management tools, and benefits platforms).
- Identify manual processes and propose scalable, automated solutions to improve operational efficiency.
- Audit employee data regularly to maintain high data accuracy across all systems.
Benefits & Payroll support
- Partner with the payroll team/provider to ensure accurate updates for new hires, terminations, compensation changes, and deductions.
- Assist in benefits administration, including open enrolment, life event updates, and employee questions regarding health, retirement, or wellness plans.
Compliance, Policy & Visa Management
- Visa & Immigration Support: Assist with the sponsorship, tracking, and renewal processes for work visas, ensuring compliance with international and local immigration regulations.
- Legal Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labour laws and reporting requirements.
- Documentation & Guidelines: Maintain and update the employee handbook, internal wikis, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and immigration recordkeeping.
- Audits & Recordkeeping: Assist with internal and external audits, including immigration audits (e.g., I-9 compliance), as needed.

Required:
- Multiple years’ experience in a similar role or more junior role if you are truly ready for the step up – we need someone who can hit the ground running.
- Proven, hands-on experience managing end-to-end recruitment. Comfortable acting as the main point of contact for both hiring managers and candidates throughout the process.
- Experience supporting payroll processes and administering benefits
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities to manage multiple projects simultaneously and maintain attention to detail
- Critical thinking and intuition for prioritization, a self-starter comfortable working with ambiguity
- High attention to detail, exceptional organizational skills, and a data-driven approach to solving operational problems.
- Knowledge of human resource best practice and current UK employment legislation, with willingness to build knowledge of international employment practices.
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with extreme discretion.
- Hands-on experience with modern HR tools – our main systems are HiBob and Workable
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong customer-service orientation toward employees.
