HR Advisor

Part -time, 4 days, 32 hours

Salary range: £28,782.40 to £31,000 depending on experience (FTE £35,978 to £38,750)

Perrywood is an independent, family-owned garden centre and nursery business run by the Bourne Family. In 2024 Perrywood expanded to now include 3 Centres at Tiptree, Sudbury and East Hanningfield all are surrounded by beautiful countryside.

Our new centre and Sudbury is now open with plans to expand the site further in 2026. We also have exciting plans for our newest Centre, Buckhatch. Our mission is to offer a memorable garden centre experience, deliver wow customer service, and give our employees and customers a reason to smile.

 Role Purpose

Working as part of the HR Team, you will be responsible for delivering comprehensive, expert advice and guidance to managers across the organisation in a coaching style. You will primarily support Managers across all 3 centres, approximately 300 employees, with any HR/ER queries that they have in a proactive manner.

You will build and maintain excellent professional relationships with internal and external contractors while delivering high-standard advice and guidance.

 Key duties

  • To provide a comprehensive Human Resources advisory service to all managers and employees, to ensure that the organisation follows best practice in the management of its staff and to ensure compliance with employment law.
  • Support with handling ER matters – including end to end processes for investigations, disciplinaries, grievances, absence management and flexible working requests.
  • Supporting, influencing and guiding managers on all aspects of HR in line with business objectives.
  • Support, advise and guide managers with sickness absence for employees and assist in reviewing complex cases leading to capability assessment; liaising with Occupational Health to ensure that risk is minimised.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge on all new employment legislation and recommend necessary changes to all Company Policies and Procedures.
  • Advise managers on the recruitment process and their recruitment strategies to find the most suitable person for the role.
  • Using company templates, draft contracts, variation letters, leavers and other bespoke documents as required.
  • Support the HR Manager in maintaining and developing the use of the HR system, Employment Hero.
  • Continually learn and develop in all areas of HR to support your own and the organisations growth.
  • Support the HR Manager in completing project work- making recommendations, discussing upcoming ideas and trends, evaluating ways to continually improve employee experience, such as talent attraction, team engagement, health and welfare.

 

 Your capabilities:

  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Time management skills and ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines with flexibility.
  • Good understanding of IT/software, including Microsoft office suite, and experience of using HR and time and attendance software, Employment Hero (desirable), training will be given
  • Willingness to travel across all 3 sites, Tiptree, Sudbury, and East Hanningfield. Based at Tiptree, with travel one day a week to East Hanningfield and Sudbury, alternating weeks.

 

Requirements

  • CIPD Level 5 or equivalent (desirable)
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of employment legislation.
  • Experience in a fast-paced multi-sited organisation
  • Experience of communicating with stakeholders at all levels
  • Experience with managing high volumes of cases, including reviewing investigation reports and supporting documents.
