This is a unique, varied opportunity where you will:

  • Act as the lead people partner for a portfolio of businesses / stakeholders
  • Support other businesses in a secondary or advisory capacity where additional resources or expertise is needed
  • Work across multiple businesses, balancing strategic input with hands-on delivery
  • No two days will be the same. You’ll be switching between big-picture thinking and rolling up your sleeves to deliver practical HR solutions — all while building strong relationships.

 

What You’ll Be Doing

Business Partnership

  • Build trusted relationships as the primary lead for allocated businesses
  • Support additional businesses with tailored advice and guidance
  • Really get to know each business, understanding its people, culture, and commercial goals

Strategic HR

  • Provide commercially focused advice to business leaders
  • Support organisational design, workforce planning, and change initiatives
  • Lead on employee engagement, performance, and cultural development
  • Handle complex employee relations matters with confidence and commercial acumen

Operational & Hands-On HR

You’ll deliver full lifecycle HR support, including:

  • Recruitment and onboarding
  • Policy development and implementation
  • Performance and absence management
  • Employee relations casework
  • Offboarding processes

You’ll also:

  • Maintain compliant HR documentation and records
  • Support HR systems, reporting, and processes

Networking & Growth

  • Represent 1850 at networking events and forums
  • Build relationships that strengthen our brand, network and create opportunities to support more businesses
  • Play a role in our continued growth

What you'll earn (you won't find "competitive salary” written instead of a figure on our watch!)

Dependant on experience between £40,000 and £50,000 FTE
